First of all, it’s a brand new site. If you were a Follower on the old blog, you’ll need to click on the “Follow” button again (it’s in the right sidebar.) That done, you’ll be added to the list. You have to have a Google/Gmail/Blogger account to access this feature since “Follower” is a Blogger feature for members only. Thanks to all of you who have “Followed” me. It helps me a lot.
Creating a Google account is easy and gives you access to many things. One benefit is the Reading List which lists all the blogs you follow in an outline style format. You can scan through at a glance and click on anything you want to see in more detail. I’ve used this frequently and it’s very helpful.
Once you’ve created the account with Google and clicked the Follow button, you will be asked if you want to follow publicly or privately. I think it’s fun to see everyone’s pictures and for all of us to know who’s reading with us. But that’s strictly a personal choice.
A new feature is “Follow by Email.” What this means is that you will be sent an email each time I post to the blog--an easy way to know there’s a new post. To join the Email follow list, you need to click on the “Follow by Email” box. You will be asked to enter your email and to type a ‘capture’ picture to verify you are not a robot!
After that you should receive an email each time I post. As I understand it, the post will come to your email and you will not have to access the site. Easy enough…but some of the features, such as the slide show and the graphics may not be available. Still it’s a quick and easy method for those of you who need to save time and just want to read. Also, if you wish to leave a comment, I believe you need to visit the site. I’d love to have you all comment. It’s a fun way to stay in touch.
Some of you have had trouble in the past leaving a comment. Blogger likes you better if you have a Google account and that makes it easier to comment. But don’t feel bad if you don’t. There are many days when Blogger doesn’t like any of us, account or not. You can also post by clicking Anonymous on the drop down menu. It will list you as Anonymous so be sure to sign your name somewhere in the post.
I will be linking this blog and my Creative Writing Forces site. The CWF is my blog on all things writing. I’m working with two other White Rose authors, Delia Latham and Mary Manners. We’re all excited about the new venture. Our goal is to make it fun, interactive and dynamic. We will have a button on Tanya’s Topics to click over to CWF, in case you want to see what we’re doing. Once a month, we’ll post Amazon’s top 5 Inspirational bestsellers. It’ll be a great way to follow some favorite authors and maybe meet some new ones.
I have already linked my CWF blog with my Facebook page. If you are on Facebook, you’ve probably seen some of my postings show up there. Soon, I’ll be linking Tanya’s Topics as well. It helps me a lot if you “Like” me on these pages on FB. You can also like individual posts so if you have not been able to comment on the blog, you’ll be able to comment on FB. Commenting at either place lets me know which posts you enjoy the most. Also, for those who don’t know, I have a private page and a Fan Page. If you take the time to like my Fan Page, that helps me even more. I need 25 ‘Likes” to reach a certain goal with the Facebook folks.
The header at the top of the blog is one of Gary’s pictures taken at the DuPont Estate, Longwood Gardens. The slide show pictures are of Longwood Gardens, Pattersen Falls and another DuPont estate Winterthur.
Thanks so much for stopping by at Tanya’s Topics. While you’re here, why not book mark this page? It makes it easy for you find your way back!
